sometimes keyboard stops responding after XP resumes

#1 Post by dracore » Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:54 am

Has anyone else noticed this odd problem where sometimes after resuming from sleep, the keyboard and trackpad become completely unresponsive?

I can still log in through fingerprint or if I plug in a USB mouse, the mouse cursor responds. It's just the trackpad/keyboard that do not work at all. If I close the lid to enter sleep mode again and then resume, the keyboard/trackpad works again.

In a similar fashion, on resume of XP, the sound completely disappeared. It only came back after I put it to sleep and then resumed. But this has only happened once (so far).

Reinstall the UltraNav drivers.

(Fix) Some functions assigned to the touch pad buttons don't work at the first press after suspend/resume or hibernation/wakeup.

In some cases reinstalling newest version of Thinkpad Keyboard Customizer has also helped in improving key response.
Summary of changes for the ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad :

(Fix) Slow key input problem fix.
After boot or returning to normal mode from standby mode, key input gets slow sometimes.

These components cannot be put to sleep to save power consumption, the problem you're experiencing is most likely due to some buggy behavior from drivers.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. Hopefully that should solve it!
