Upgrade T60p to Flexview.

#1 Post by Bobdare » Mon Nov 19, 2007 5:56 am

I've been dying to get a T60 with Flexview for a while now. When I found the T60p that I bought, I was willing to sacrifice the screen. How would I go about upgrading my T60p to Flexview and where/how would I find a 14.1" flexview screen?

P.S. I don't care if the warranty is void, the support here in Kuwait is terrible anyway.

There has never been a 14.1" Flexview screen. They only come in 15" size, and then only SXGA+ and UXGA resolutions.

And QXGA, i.e. 2048x1536.

Wow - I didn't know that QXGA was Flexview as well. I've never even seen one.

IDTech still lists all of their IPS panels on their site, including the QXGA IAQX10 used as an option in the R50p.   i just noticed that they offer a 22.2" IPS panel with a monster 3840x2400 resolution -- that's four times larger than my T61p's panel!!!

I had a thread about this about a year ago and JHEM said he had seen a few. But I didn't know it's also Flexview. I guess the rationale is that these super high res displays (including the 15.0" QXGA and 15.0" UXGA) would be pretty difficult to view without their contrast getting enhanced by the Flexview technology.

i wouldn't doubt that the IBM display uses the IDTech panel.   toshiba recently announced a WUQXGA-W monitor but it's not IPS/FFS/S-PVA and carries a $17k price tag.
