computer locked

#1 Post by ginoT » Tue Nov 20, 2007 10:54 am

just saw an ad in my local paper for someone selling a T41 super cheap. Apparently they forgot their password and now the pc is locked.

is this something I can simply fix by doing a recovery to factory settings? Or by forgetting the password can only IBM unlock it now?

if I can fix it I'll be able to pick it up for $200 !!!

are they talking about a Windows password or a BIOS or HD password. If it's the HD password the just buy a new HD and you're good to go. If it's the BIOS well IBM wont help you with that. If it's Windows then just format that puppy and you're good to go :)

They are unlockable that's for sure. The question is how to reset the bios :) The person i bought my laptop from used to buy locked notebooks and unlock them. He told me it involves replacing some chip, i guess that would be the bios. I think you can order the chip online. Gotta google around for more info and possibly a howto.
