T30 CPU Upgrade

#1 Post by vcc6809 » Tue Nov 20, 2007 5:19 pm

Hi, I'm new here, I'm sure this is answered here somewhere but I can't find anything so here goes.
I've got a T30 2366-92U, Born with a 1.8Ghz P4. about a year ago I replaced it with a 2.4Ghz chip. Of course this model was never ment to disapate that much heat but its been working well for me. My question is, Is there any easy way to get better cooling? The CPU temp under real load hits 87 ot 88 degrees C. Running Primes 95 it even hits 1st level thermal shutdown where the CPU scales back to 1.2Ghz. Are there bigger/Better heatsink fan combo avalable or mods to the stock one?
Thanks.

RE:Heat sync

There were different heat syncs available for the t30, make sure you're using the largest one. Also, keeping a good connection is important. My advice would be to re-apply the heat sync compound (a very thin layer of arctic silver, you need to make sure this part is done properly) first. The different fan FRUs are listed here and were found via simple searching. =)

For some reason I was under the impression the bigger one didn't fit. Seems to be a couple on Ebay now. I'll go pick one up.
Thanks.
