Hi,

No. 7K200 are SATA and drives the T40-T43s have PATA interface (even if the T43 has a PATA-SATA bridge inside).

Before you ask, the PATA-SATA bridge con not be 'removed', and makes, if any, things more difficult since only Lenovo certified (recoginzed by BIOS) drives work without giving a boot error message...
760CD -> 770X -> 600E -> T23 -> T40 -> T42 -> T400 -> T430

... according to te thread Problems with non-thinkpad option drives on T43 thinkpads the currently largest 7200 rpm HDD for T43's is 100 GB (turn to page 14 in that thread, and see the post by JHaislet, posted: Thu Sep 20, 2007 1:41 pm).

If you really, really want to max out the HDD capacity in your T43 to the largest possible, see the thread FS: Mint T43p 2668-H1U 15" UXGA (see the post of Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:05 pm).

PS: The following links may perhaps be of interest, when hunting for alternatives, if needing more information that from the sticky:

Hard drive firmware update (Bootable diskettes) - ThinkPad General

Hard drive firmware update utility (Bootable CD ISO) - ThinkPad
