T41 Continuous "BEEP"- sound

#1 Post by Quickclive » Thu Nov 22, 2007 4:45 am

Hello!

My computer works ok, except that small problem. From speaker comes LOUD continuous beep, if I don´t switch "MUTE" on, or plug headphones in.

Boot doesn´t help. What could be a solution for the problem?

Is it possible that one of your keys stuck somehow?

Sorry, I put the wrong model number. It´s T41.

Sound started about 1-2 months ago. OS is Win XP PRO. It´s about 3 years old. It could be possible, if there´s some button stuck.

Have to test it with another keyboard soon. In couple of hours I´ll find
out, does that solve the problem.

Wouldn't a stuck key stop the TP from booting, giving a "stuck key" message?
Is it possible that somehow it is feedback from microphone/speakers? Try setting the microphone volume to "0" in Audio Devices.

Sure sounds like feedback to me (pun not intended). There should be a mute check box for the built-in microphone.

I don´t get this. I switched the power on and it´s fully quiet. It´s completely normal. Thanks for everybody!!!
I´ll get back with this, if something changes.
