Some Lenovo updates will not install

#1 Post by cnyprecast » Thu Nov 22, 2007 8:40 pm

There are some Lenovo updates that will not install on my X61 (Vista Ultimate). I have tried signing into a couple of different administrator level accounts. Some of the updates do install, but some will not. I have turned off my virus software with no better success.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you solve it? How?

Thanks!

The updates that don't get installed are mostly those that aren't meant for your machine. You should've posted the packages atleast.

For instance if the package is for Nero (Windows Vista Update Modules KB) and you don't have Nero installed on your machine, it won't be installed then.

In addition, there is also a bug in ThinkVantage System Update that shows several packages over and over again upon connecting to the lenovo server everytime you run System Update.

Thanks, these modules will download, but will not install:

Recommended:
Thinkvantage Productivity Center for ThinkPad
Windows Vista Update Module KB929637 32bit
Intel PRO/1000 LAN adapter software for Windows Vista

Doesn't ThinkVantage Update recognize what is on my machine to decide which updates are applicable?

Thanks again!

Download the below packages manually, be sure to explicitly follow the installation instructions given on the respective pages:

ThinkVantage Productivity Center - ThinkPad

Ethernet driver (Intel PRO/1000 LAN adapter software) for Windows Vista

Install the following package only if it applies to your machine:

Microsoft KB929637

Yes it does but only to a certain extent unfortunately.
