i noticed my X20 has a continuous clicking sound and i really do not know where it is coming from. i thought at first it was the hard drive but the sound can be barely heard and is continuous. i tried removing AC power or LAN connection but the result is the same.
any suggestions on how to isolate where the sound is coming from?
thanks.

It could be the CPU fan. Check out this thread:

Thanks for the replies...
I don't think its the HDD. The clicking sound is faint but annoying if you have begun noticing it.
It might be the fan as the sound is like an off/on switching based on the previous thread. Geof thanks for the link by the way. I read the thread and I checked my BIOS and ECP versions and they are up to date. So I guess tinkering it with a capacitor will solve it... but naaah that is already nuclear science for me
I will just have to ignore it for now since the sound although continuous is just very faint. I will be observing it hoping it will not die on me very soon.
