WUXGA - need your advice

#1 Post by Marcin786 » Sat Nov 24, 2007 2:27 pm

Hi Guys,

I have a few question, I'm going to change my 14.1 inch Dell 1440 – 900 ( with Windows XP professional ) for Thinkpad T61p with WUXGA 1920 – 1200 ( with Vista Ultimate ), and a have a lot of worries, because I don't know how big the icons and fonts will be ( smaller or bigger ).
Can someone please send me over a desktop screenshot of any WUXGA laptop with 1920 – 1200 resolution, I'd like to see how small the icons are. I would appreciate that thanks a lot.

Marcin

if you use vista then text and icon sizes can both be scaled.   i use small text and icons on my T61p but my vision is excellent and my eyes are still young.

this should give you a good idea of the difference in resolution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WUXGA

Marcin, welcome aboard!

Take a look at these snapshots of my 15.4" Dell Inspiron 6000 set at three different resolutions, i.e. 1280x800, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200:

The web browser is set at the same pixel size in all photos, so that you can see how small it appears on the 1920x1200 screen.

Your 14.1" 1440x900 has 120.4 dots per inch (DPI), and a 15.4" 1920x1200 screen has 147 DPI. The difference is pretty big and it may take you several weeks to adjust to a 15.4" 1920x1200 screen. But once you've adjusted to it, you'll love the extra real estate.
