t61p gaming performance?

#1 Post by zenit » Sat Nov 24, 2007 10:12 pm

Well right now i am torn between chosing a proper laptop for myself. the possible choices are t61p and asus g1s-a1. I was going to get an asus to begin with, but love the solid build of thinkpads.

What i am worried about is gaming performance of NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M chip. Do any thinkpad owners here do any sort of gaming on these laptops, or have any review web sites done any gaming benchmarks?

Also how does t61p in general compare to asus g1s?

Just to add, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare runs fine (50 fps) on my T61P at 1680x1050. I didn't expect it to because I had to run a non native resolution for Crysis but CoD 4 ran great. It's one of the most fun and exciting games I've ever played.

Enemy Territory Quake Wars runs at native resolution with high to highest settings (apart from anti aliasing) quite smooth.
Until it crashes of course.. but the performance itself is good.

Gaming is pretty decent, I played Crysis on my T61p at 1280x800 on medium-high settings and I was averaging 30 fps. I considered the Asus G1S also, but I opted for the ThinkPad because of the sturdy build, TrackPoint (laptops without these annoy me), and the Quadro FX 570M outperforms the GeForce 8600M GT on benchmarks and gaming.
