X60s rescue and recovery

#1 Post by zuul » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:31 am

Hello. Have problem with X60S rescue and recovery. It was working last time I used it. Have not done anything that could have harmed the rescue partition in middle and now I wanted to reinstall winXP, but in the pre-boot rescue and recovery almost none of the links work :S I press on the link and just nothing happens. Only "Restart" and "Change boot device" links work, no other. Anyone have an idea ? Thank You ahead.

Can you even enter the predesktop console because the "links" you're explaining usually appear before the initialization of ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery when one cannot enter the protected area due to corrupt boot sector.

You can try repairing the sector via:

Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette.

Alernatively, if you would like to restore your machine to out of the box factory state then you can do that via Product Recovery disks too, be sure to backup your important data on an external media beforehand as the process will wipe out your HDD. (Uising this approach will delete all backups created via ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery too).

Well, I press the blue "Thinkvantage" button on startup, then the utility loads up, leaves me with blank screen with links on left side and on top and thats it. Nothing else happens and only the links I described work. I dont have an external FDD but I will try to think of a way to run that recovery FDD You provided with link.

Thank You ahead ..

I am unable to find any tool that will not need FDD or CD and can check for the problems with my pre-boot Rescue and Recovery and I still cannot do anything with it. Can anyone please direct me to some tool that could fix the problem becose I dont have the installation discs and ordering them costs money at least where I live :S
