I have an X61s running Win XP.
The max X61s resolution is 1024 x 768.
I have an external Samsung Syncmaster 172 I used with my old T40 at 1400 x 1050.
So, it seems with some combination of the 1) Presentation Director and 2) Control Panel > Display > Settings I should be able to get higher resolution than 1024 x 768 on my external monitor, but I cannot no matter what I try.
There are so many combinations of display settings am not sure which way to go. I know this should be easy.
Should I select one particular setting on the Presentation Director, THEN adjust the Control Panel?
Thanks for any tips.
Baffled setting up an external monitor
Using only presentation director should get you the high resolution via external display.
For my T61 with intel graphics though, without installing presentation director, merely closing the LCD lid will initiate automatic display switch to external monitor if VGA is connected. In my case it switches to to a 1680x1050 resolution.
