2623-DDU or 2007-94U?
2623-DDU or 2007-94U?
Alrighty, so I'm getting two T60p's with very similar specs. Which do you guys think is better and why? I've compared them myself, but I am probably overlooking something???
Thanks!
Thanks!

You are correct, sir. I am a lazy [censored]. Here we go:RonS wrote:You may get some replies if you post the specs for each machine in this thread so potential responders don't have to dig through tabook to compare the models.
2623-DDU:
Specs: T2500(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 15in 1600x1200 LCD, 256MB ATI FireGL V5200, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, WWAN, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

2007-94U
Specs: T2600(2.16GHz), 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 15in 1600x1200 LCD, 256MB ATI FireGL V5200, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, WWAN, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

When voting, please do NOT consider the slightly faster processor of the 2007-94U as a factor.
Except for the 166MHz, what the heck is the difference here? LOL

The only difference is that:
2623-DDU:
- 2.00 GHz Core Duo - T2500
- Restricted coverage of warranty is not available in many parts of the world, coverage in Europe is not good.
2007-94G/U
- 2.16 GHz Core Duo - T2600
- Covered all over the world, therefore generally more expensive.
EDIT: To further add, it was one of the things that bugged me when i had to look for a T60p with UXGA flexview - i did choose a 2623-DDU, although it is risky there are still repair shops that fixes this, should anything occour - i hope.
For someone living in the US, i'd say it's a toss-up.
There's a greater chance of getting a BOE-Hydis with the 2007-series since they were discontiuned earlier, and before the last 2008-series came.

I noticed that, too. Why is there limited warranty coverage for certain models? I've only ever heard of the legendary IBM 3-year INTERNATIONAL warranty, before it became Lenovo. And the T60/p series is IBM's last design of the T series.Troels wrote:snipped

IBM did not design T60/p, lenovo did. Last thinkpad designed by IBM team was X41/t.Crunch wrote:snip....And the T60/p series is IBM's last design of the T series.

Cost...what I thought...But both are IPS displays. I believe erik said the frame rate is better...ulrich.von.lich wrote:Due to the high manufacture costs and the insufficient demand for laptop IPS panels I think. I hope Lenovo will bring us something better, if there is anything

i don't believe i said anything about frame rates. notebook IPS display refresh times are quite slow compared to most other panels but the BOE-Hydis and IDTech panels are identical in this regard. their only major difference is in contrast ratio ratings but you're very unlikely to ever notice a difference without seeing both panels side-by-side.Crunch wrote:Cost...what I thought...But both are IPS displays.
