Best way to clean X61T Multi Touch Display?

#1 Post by pboneal » Sun Nov 25, 2007 5:10 pm

Could someone tell me the best way to clean an X61T display? Of course it gets smudges almost as soon as I open it. I tried to clean it with Monster LCD cleaner which has no alcohol or acetone. It comes with a microfiber cloth and works really well on all my other LCD's. When I cleaned the X61T now I have what likes like a film or haze on the screen.

Thanks
Paul

Try using the microfiber cloth with distilled water.

I personally like the "Suede" type microfiber cloths.

Like a leland brand "powerclean" microfiber cloth.

There are others.

What you do is you breath on your lcd for a little moisture and you can clean off your screen pretty well. Or maybe a drop of distilled water as mentioned. The screen is very durable. Just blow off the obvious hard dirt first though.

Monster LCD cleaner is no better than generic crap with monster logoed on everything.

The only real liquid cleaning supply out there that i'd trust is Klear Screen.
That's why its always sold by those screen protector companies. Because you really need a very clean screen for that film to work well.

Whatever you choose to use, be very gentle with how you wipe your screen! I used to use this glasses cleaning cloth to wipe the smudges off the screen, but there were a few spots that felt like they needed a little 'elbow grease'. I didn't manhandle the screen, but I took one finger with the cloth to wipe the spot with a little more pressure.

Bad move. It put a large spider line scratch on the screen.

I now use a large microfiber cloth with just a touch of water now. Large sweeping motions with very little to no pressure. It takes forever to clean, but it does it safely.

I love my x61 Tablet. =)

Hands down the best solution for any laptop:

When used in conjunction with the Optimist Prime LCD Cleaner, this duo wipe any screen smudge off and keep them off.

We have used Shaggymacs since our T40 days, and they have outlasted 3 laptops. Thats 1 Shaggymac screen protector, 3 different laptops, 4 years.[/url]
