X60 SXGA+ Screen flicker wobble issue?

I was wondering if anyone has recently replaced their X60 XGA+ tablet screen that had the notorious flickering screen problem (bottom 1/3rd) recently? Was the fix adequate?

For those that aren't aware, the X60 Tablet with SXGA+ screens were plagued with the 'flicker bug' where the bottom third of the screen would flicker like crazy. Squeezing the side of the screen (plastic part) would fix this problem temporarily.

The flickering problem you're explaining goes back to IBM days, the main reason of it's occurrence is due to improper handling of machine i.e. picking it up from side corners by one hand or some identical sort of other treatment. Before anyone start another discussion about engineering fault, I would like to say if you open up those manuals that accompany your machines, you'll see instructions on proper care and handling of these systems.

The fix for mentioned probelm is either the replacement of Planar card (GPU related issue) or substitution of inverter card or it's loose cable.

Without knowing the exact model and spec of your machine this will be a bit of a shot in the dark...

The first thing you will want to do is make sure you are using the latest version of the video driver of your machine.

Also, make sure your BIOS is up to date. (Version 7BETD3WW (2.14))

If you are running Vista, take a look at this:

Vista has a service called Transient Multimon Manager (TMM).
This (supposedly) makes it easier to run multiple displays.
It also causes the annoying flash we all hate so much.

Here's how to fix it:

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type "Task Scheduler" and hit Enter.
3. On the left-hand side, click "Task Scheduler Local" (you should already be there, but just in case).
4. Expand "Task Scheduler Library," then "Microsoft," then "Windows," then click "MobilePC."
5. Up top, you'll see a task called "TMM." Rt Click it, lft click properties, click conditions,
click start only on ac and click stop if the computer switches to battery

Thanks for the great feedback. It's good to see that people can appreciate that this problem could only be caused by a hardware fault. There is no way software or firmware could cause this problem...

Im sending mine in tomorrow, im curious what they will do.
Among the 1/3 flickering screen issue it also has a very lose headphone jack, white dots on the screen, lose hinge and very lose screen-latch (due to deformity of the display-casing, dont ask me how it got that, i barely take it outside and it never had to endure any kind of physical stress/pressure).

I dont know if it makes much difference, but here in germany you do not actually send it to Lenovo itself but to the place you bought it, in my case one of the two major thinkpad student shops.
