Install TPFanControl and note the highest GPU, CPU temperatures and fan speed recorded while running a CPU intensive program, like watching a DVD. Post them here.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tp4xfancontrol/

Yes. It's a zip file, so download it and unzip it to a folder. Then in that folder run the fancontrol.exe.

Well, is the file winio.sys in the folder with the tpfancontrol.exe file, and did you execute tpfancontrol from that folder?

OK, now watch a DVD and tell me what these temperatures go up to.

CPU 64°C (0x78)
GPU 54°C (0x7b)

If you don't have a DVD, run a CPU intensive program like SuperPI for 10 minutes or so - http://www.overclock.net/attachments/do ... per-pi.zip

Directly underneath the touchpad/Palm Rest is a minipci card for your wireless. You could try removing it to see if the crashes reoccur. I'd also run a full batch of diagnostics on the machine starting with PC-Doctor, a diagnostic from the hard drive manufacturer, and Memtest86. Your problem is not CPU/GPU heat related or cooling of those components. In fact your machine is running cool for a T42 if you ask me.

Just install PC-Doctor 5 and run it. Installation instructions are at the link. Ref. you PM request...I don't give out my IM ID's or phone number. OK with you?

Run it from windows -
PC-Doctor for Windows

Run it from DOS on diskette -
PC-Doctor for DOS

Your choice. Windows would be easier.

Run all of them. There should be an option to run them all at once...I'd guess the system option.

Hi,

With the data you posted the [censored] do not look like heat related. I'd guess they are either RAM or WiFi related. Do what HarryC says, or if yours have 2 memory dimms, tray removing one at a time... if the system still hangs.

Do not trust *that much* on the memory test programs. There are memory problems that do not appear with such programs or need too many loops before detected.

Level=52 0
Level=54 3
Level=56 4
Level=60 7
Level=70 128
do i need to remodify the temerature on above line ?

and after i did this. here is the teperature
Fan: 0x80 / Highest: 46°C (46 41 29 42 31 n/a 26 n/a 0 0 0 0)

i let it run in Bios Mode. not in smart mode .
