Free FTP site

#1 Post by Kyocera » Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:53 pm

Anyone know of an FTP site I can use to upload some programs. I used to use biscu.com but they are charging now. I've googled some but would like to get advice if anyone here has tried any.
Thanks

If the programs aren't too big, you could always store them in your GMAIL area (up to 5GB by now).

Boxnet is a free (1GB) FTP site: http://www.box.net/ftp

4shared.com. It's not really a ftp but offers 5GB of space, I have personlly used it in the past and have found it to be very good.

Is there a storage place like this that doesn't have a 100mb file size limit?

Try esnips, I haven't used it but looks promising.

I read the small print for eSnips.
It's an outfit in Israel, that currently is free with up to 5GB storage. They may start charging in future. I did not find any file limitation, but there is a lot of talk about copyrights etc.
After 90 days inactivity they will notice you that they will close you down if you don't react.
Their idea is good, and offers some nice possibilities.

Alternatively, get your own website, register a URL with GoDaddy for less than $10.- a year. Get a hosting package from a reputable company for anywhere between free and $6.- per month (or more if you want to waste your dosh).
I buy my hosting from www.hostm.com where I get 5 websites for less than $100.- per year, with 800GB storage and 8'000GB traffic.
That should more than meet your requirements.

If you need help with a website let me know.

I use Windows SkyDrive. It's easy to use and it's associated to your Windows Live account if you have one. It's pretty handy for people like me who have the memory of a goldfish. You only need to sign an agreement to get started.

1GB is not much but good enough for backups of documents.
