I'm living in a Dorm. In order to connect to the Internet, I have to register my MAC address at a company managing Dorm Internet stuff. Then, I have a new computer so I changed my New Comp MAC Addr to the old one. It works perfectly under windows XP. I can access Internet with no problem.
However, when using Vista, it seems like I can't access the internet after booting the computer. It shows like "Unable to connect..." in my IE and FireFox. The wierd thing is the connection works just fine. I can connect eMule, Strong DC++... and even typing something in the search field of IE or Firefox, it still shows the results, but it doesn't go any futher when clicking the links.
To fix the problem, I have to unplug and plug my connection many times, and it will work after that eventually. What bothering me is I have to do this process time after time after booting to Vista.
I have searched on the internet, but have not found the answer. Anyone who can help me?

Open up a command prompt and run the following command. Post the results here (cut and paste) ;
Code: Select all
ipconfig /allYou might want to try this,
Start (menu) | In the search box enter CMD you should see at the top of the page cmd.exe | right click on this and select "Run as administrator. In the new window enter
netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled
Is there some reason why you are not reporting the current IP address of your new machine? I suspect it has to to do with this more than anything. You might want to try a router that can clone the IP address of the computer between the wall and your computer. Just a thought.

I am changing laptops alot. Three months ago, I used T60. Last month was T61, and now I'm using Z61t. It's not cool to report to the service everytime I change my computer.
