Cracked case on Z61m for the second time

#1 Post by hodad » Mon Nov 26, 2007 10:41 pm

The bottom of the case on my z61 has cracked for the second time! It's a 1" hariline crack starting at the battery connector and radiating toward the middle of the case. I had the IDENTICAL issue several months ago and IBM replaced it. It is obviously a design defect. It looks like it is caused by carrying the laptop with the battery side down.
Fortunately, I had warranty protection and it was promptly fixed AGAIN! Aside from this issue I absolutely love the machine. It is in all other respects a quality product.
Has anyone else had this issue? (I know a couple people reported it last time I posted).

I've had this issue, that I replied to in your first thread, http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=

It's a design flaw that I'd hope they resolved when they repaired mine. I've avoided it by not carrying it like that, or carrying it in my Sleeve, which is oriented vertically, when carrying it or when its attached to my Backback (Tom Bihn gear).
