Wanted: X40 system board or system board fix

#1 Post by spasticteapot » Tue Nov 27, 2007 12:47 am

I have an X40 that works, but only if a pre-chaged battery is attached. Through experimentation, I've found that the power adapter works fine, but the laptop's internal power circuitry is fried: It can no longer run off of the power adapter, and no longer charge its battery.

I'd like to either get the board fixed, or get a replacement. ULV Pentium M's only.

Have you tried to fix the DC power jack? May be as simple as that. I believe the jack on the X40 is soldered onto the board and is a relatively easy repair with a soldering iron, but you'd have to completely remove the system board to do it. Another alternative is a service like this -

The power jack is good, I'm sure enough of that.
