x61t, SXGA+ wobble

#1 Post by wea » Tue Nov 27, 2007 12:50 am

Long time lurker, first time poster.

On Friday I received a SXGA+ x61t that I ordered at the end of October. Put it into tablet mode last night and realized it has very noticeable wobble.

When it's in laptop mode, the screen and hinge has a left to right wobble when touched. The bottom of the screen bezel actually goes all the way to the left and right, touching the rubber bumpers. Like other posters, it doesn't seem to wobble as much when it is in rotate or tablet mode.

Some people here say this is normal, some don't. Some people on tabletpcreview say this is normal, some don't :) Personally, I think it's excessive.

I'll call Lenovo about this when I have a chance. Other observations will be forthcoming.

PS. Looking for a 4 cell battery, PN 40Y8314. Thanks!

I also just got an SXGA+ X61t recently. So far I love it except for basically the screen issue you mention and the fact that the screen just baaaaaarely doesn't turn to laptop mode all the way (its only off by a millimeter or so, but it's enough that I notice it every time I use it).

Can't complain besides that though. My battery life has been SPECTACULAR and vista really makes tablet mode fun and easy (so long as you have enough resources).

I haven't had the bezel pull away so far (*crosses fingers*) so hopefully this has been fixed for good.

I'll probably give a more full review at some point after I've used it a little longer.
