Suggest hard drive upgrade for T43 1871-FWG

#1 Post by dedmeet » Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:58 am

Hi,

Been looking for a clear answer in the forums, but can't find any.

So my question, simply:

What hard drive (120gig+) can I use to upgrade my storage?

I cuurently have an 80gig drive:

=== START OF INFORMATION SECTION ===
Model Family: Fujitsu MHV series
Device Model: FUJITSU MHV2080AH
Serial Number: NT20T5B26AM9
Firmware Version: 00840096
User Capacity: 80,026,361,856 bytes
Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show]
ATA Version is: 6
ATA Standard is: ATA/ATAPI-6 T13 1410D revision 3a
Local Time is: Tue Nov 27 09:26:49 2007 GMT
SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
SMART support is: Enabled

and need something bigger.

The following page lists fujitsu drives and models with their specs:

http://193.128.183.41/home/v3__product. ... =fsp&wg=15

From the page above, I identified model MHV2120AH ( a 120gig drive) as a drive that I can be 100% sure is compatible. I can't find any shop in UK who still actually has this drive in stock, and it is marked as dicontinued.

Any suggestions (don't want to fork out money, to find I have made mistake and bought drive that won't work) the MHV2120AH was my safest best.

Tia

Any newer (made within last year) Hitachi or Fujitsu should work, and if you can't find the exact model in the UK, let us know and I'm sure someone will be willing to buy it here and ship it to you...

Good luck.

I replaced my original T43p drive with 100Gb Hitachi 7K100.
Flashed the firmware, no error on boot up works like a charm.
There is no problem in getting them here (UK). Try ebuyer.co.uk for example but any decent pc store will have it in stock I am sure.

I have the 120GB Fujitsu from Newegg. Plug and play, no 2010 error. It does make a "crunch" sound when the heads are parked though...
