Video games on T40 - CPU overheats

#1 Post by Goldberry » Tue Nov 27, 2007 6:16 pm

Tried playing Call of Duty (original 2003) game on my T40 and while the game seems to run fine the CPU gets hot NHC indicated over 80.

Is this a normal problem with my machine or what? How can I tell if the fan is working properly? Normal computing the CPU seldom goes above 50 but I am generally just browsing.

Yes, 80oC is getting up there! Is it your CPU or your GPU that's overheating and which GPU do you have?

Not sure what you mean by GPU, are you referring to the 32MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 in this unit.

Notebook Hardware Control indicates a warning comes on if CPU goes above 80 degrees and that is what triggered my concern.
