Dead T23 need help finding location on board for coil
A friend of mine just gave me a T23 that looks almost brand new but it wont start up. No power no charge light no nothing. I took it apart and couldnt find anything wrong so read most all threads in this forum that were appropriate and found something about coils getting bad solder joints. So I went to check it out with the motherboard out and everything seemed fine until I picked mobo up and one of those things fell off from somewhere, it has a number on it (5R2 N23)square looking with round center the problem is I dont have any Idea which side it came off of or where it goes. It was intact wherever it was at on board but I kind of got it snagged on mobo tray when flipping mobo over. I am almost positive this should have not come off that easy. Could this be me culprite and where in the heck does thing go? Please help Thank you for reading

Look on the underside of the mainboard with the RAM slots pointed away from you. You'll see the large, square Intel chip near the middle, a little to the left. Now look about an inch down, in the direction of the hole in the PCB, and to the left, right at the left edge of the board. You should see a small area without any components, and with gray squares on the bottom and top. Those are the solder pads on the mainboard that fit the tabs on the bottom of the coil.
I'm reasonably sure this is the right coil, as it's marked 5R2 N1N on my board, and the second part of the designation appears to differ depending on the board. There's also another coil just to the left of the Intel chip, and if the one I'm talking about is still in place, the other one might be the one you're looking for. In my case, it's market 2R5 N1N. For some help in how to resolder the coil, take a look at rkawakami's message.

Take a look at the two pictures that I have in the first post in this thread. I think that it is the second inductor (ie. the one that didn't come off) The first picture will show you the orientation of the board, and the second pic shows a clear pic of the inductor that you are referring to.

For a complete overview of the bottom side of the motherboard, consult this thread and click on the Bottom side w/legend link. The coils are located at D9 and E8.
