T41 battery only charges to 40%

Battery only charges to 40%. It will discharge, and recharge, but stop at 40%. Battery has been replaced, and same problem. Any ideas?

I'm getting ready to replace the motherboard, but I wanted to see if anyone has any other ideas first.

What charger do you have? If you use the 3.5 amp charger from the X series machines, you may not get a full charge, depending on power requirements (considerations include memory size, wi-fi radio, screen size)

Charger is 16V 4.5a output.

Do you have the thinkpad power management stuff installed? If so, click on the icon on the task bar and select battery information. What does it show?
