Brightness in Ubuntu Gutsy (does it happen on Fedora too?)

#1 Post by aaa » Wed Nov 28, 2007 7:42 pm

Apparently this partially stopped working Feisty->Gutsy. Basically the onscreen indicator doesn't show anymore. Anybody else encounter this? Any solutions?

Volume doesn't work too? So the vol up/down buttons don't even do anything? Was it like that in Feisty?

I've been meaning to fix this, but lost interest after 5 minutes of trying  .

mine doesnt work, but it used to work in feisty, i installed tpb in synpatic and the volume keys show that they are "adjusting" but not actually adjusting the volume at all, but the brightness has indictors with the tpb and when the thinklight is on it has a small indicator too

TPB does work on Fedora 8. However, Gnome Desktop now also has a brightness applet that works very well. So now when I change brightness, both the tpb and applet pop up.

It was the gnome applet that stopped working in Gutsy. TPB still works, it's not there by default though.

Problem is that TPB sets the volume directly in the sound card (hardware control) but the gnome applet just sets volume in the system, by software...

It's not really a problem but i prefer using just TPB in Fedora...
