New X61 direct from Lenovo, Need to Repair Vista
I'm in the process of trying to implement a dual boot using V-Com's system commander. Something has gone wrong in the process and it echos a boot error and a manual boot selector.
V-Com has advised me to repair Vista from the DVD to restore the boot to its original form. I have the 6 Recovery CDs that came with the machine, but no DVD.
How can I repair given no DVD?

The CD's will put your machine to out of the box factory condition as it was when you received it from lenovo.

You would need Windows Vista disk for that.kennyschiff wrote:I just want to run a repair, how do I do that?
if your boot sector is corrupt then you can fix it through following method but you would need floppy disk drive for it:
Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette.

Well it's about time. It just sucks that if you choose XP they charge you more, but if you choose Vista, they send you XP recovery discs. Crazy. I wish they had done that when I got my X60 Tablet, but at least I had a very helpful forum member that hooked me up.ryengineer wrote:New thinkpads with Windows Vista installed are being shipped with free Windows XP downgrade media.proaudioguy wrote:snip....I have never heard of a new machine coming with recovery CDs (well not in years).....snip
