if you added bluetooth to your x series....
OK, I installed a Bluetooth/Modem card into my ThinkPad X40. I didn’t want to run the antenna up through the display so I cut off the metal clip at the end and just snaked the antenna cable around the modem and the 802.11b card. Bluetooth works, but the transfer rate is slow. Apparently, the metal clip was important for reception...Oh well at least it isn’t too expensive. I ordered a new antenna and really need instructions from someone who ran the antenna under the keyboard. How did you do it? Do you have to remove the keyboard or the palm rest? Please provide as much detail as possible. Thanks very much.
UPDATE: Got impatient to fix my booboo and so I re-soldered the antenna cable back to the metal clip. I modified the metal clip so that it would fit in the small space by the 802.11 card. I also cut the antenna cable to about 3 inches. just tested it and my Bluetooth transfer rates got much faster so I guess that my fix worked. But if you have any advice on routing the cable under the keyboard please let me know, I might do a more proper fix as my soldering skills have a lot to be desired.
