Question about T61 battery sizes

I'm curious about the form factor of the batteries for T61 Thinkpads. I'm interested specifically in the 14-inch widescreen model.

Am I correct in thinking that the 4-cell battery does not protrude at all?

What about the 6- and 7-cell batteries? Do they share the exact same form-factor? Are they the same physical size? I found some images on Lenovo's website that are identical for the 6- and 7-cell batteries. But it's hard for me to believe that there's no difference in size and shape. If there's no difference, then why bother with the 6-cell version, right?

Lastly, it does strike me as rather odd to have such a fine-grained choice as the one between six and seven cells. That's only a one-cell difference. Can anyone comment on why Lenovo doesn't just offer 4- and 7-cells?

well yeah, only the 4 cell doesn't stick out. As for the 6 and 7 cell options, only Lenovo knows i guess. I never really saw the pics of the batteries (not that i looked) but i would expect a difference in size also but i dunno

I've held all four sizes: 4, 6 and 7-cell. I couldn't tell the difference in physical size between the 6 and 7-cell batteries during casual use, but I didn't carefully compare them. The next time I get a chance, I'll do that.
