What is my X61 ThinkPad hard drive SATA interface speed?

What is my ThinkPad hard drive SATA interface speed?
Is the SATA interface 1.5G/s or 3G/s?
ThinkPad model X61. Hard drive is Hitachi, model HTS541680J9SA00.
5400RPM. 80GB. SATA. 5V 700mA.
Also, I cannot find this model number in the Hitachi web site.

It is capable of 3G/s, but I don't know if IBM enabled it. In any case, it does not matter because there aren't any drives out there that fill up 1.5G/s.

yes, they will accept 3.0 GB/sec drives but you won't notice any gains in speed because the ATA bus is underutilized even at 1.5 GB/sec.   unless prices are the same or less on a 3.0 GB/sec drive then you might as well stick with 1.5 GB/sec.

I recommend using SATAI @ 1.5Gb/s. SATAII @ 3.0Gb/s increases power consumption due to increased frequency. No 2.5" HDD goes past 70MB/s, so you're good with SATAI.

won't notice differences in speed
currently the bus speed makes little difference
you'll see more of a bump in speed from high rpms than from interfaces' higher theoretical speeds.

just a small clarification: the terms sata and sataII are distinction only between instruction sets and features (sataII advantages are mainly: ncq and port multipliers/selectors), not speeds. most recent chipsets which say they are sata/150 are in fact also sataII.

drives can be sata/150 or sata/300, there's not really such a thing as "sataII drive".
