#1 Post by omays4430 » Sat Dec 01, 2007 7:56 pm

hey i was wondering if when after i get my Z61m fixed, Is it easily upgraded to 2gb Ram and a 7200 HDD? if so is it easy enough to do on my own or should i have a local tech do it?

by the way thanks everybody for your help on my existing issues!! :D

i do alot of audio on my desktop and used to on my laptop (till certain issues im dealing with prevented me)
i run Cubase SX 3 with about 90 VSTi's. i will say that the Z61m "did" do me well for production performance. with ASIO4ALL as an ASIO driver for the HD audio, i had no problems. performed better though with the external Audigy 2 ZS Pro card installed on it. i actually preferred working from my laptop when doing audio. it sure was a workhorse.

when it gets fixed back to normal, what should i upgrade first? ram or HDD?

thanks again guys!

Upgrading memory and HDD are very easy, all you would require is a size zero Philips screwdriver and mentioned components. Following is a video of installation and removal of them:

Well it doesn't really matter, but I suggest you upgrade the memory 1st and then HDD afterwards.

You can upgrade your CPU to any socket M Core 2 Duo CPU, including the T7600. You will need the latest BIOS from Lenovo though. The new socket P Santa Rosa CPUs are not compatible.

Any socket 'M' on the linked list under Dual-Core Mobile processors - Core 2 Duo - "Merom" (standard-voltage, 65 nm).

Downgrade to XP -
