X31 widescreen?

Hi,

I am looking at a 30" widescreen LCD that will function as a monitor/television. Will the X31 be able to display in 1280x768? I looked at the available modes and it looks like the answer is no, but does anybody know a way to do it? Thanks.

Some chipsets don't support custom resolutions, and especially the integrated ones used in laptops are notorious in that regard, thus powerstrip may not help.

A follow-up question though: I have an X40, is there a way to get 16:9 out of it? 1280x720, 852x480 or something like that?
