Flush fitting battery for X61?

#1 Post by young guy » Fri Dec 07, 2007 1:27 pm

Anyone know if they will ever make a "slim" 4-cell battery that will fit the X61? I'm not a fan of the battery sticking out with the "Enhanced" 4-cell battery. Or would battery life of a "slim" be so terrible for a X61 that it would not be worth making for Lenovo?

since the X61 uses normal-voltage processors rather than low-voltage, smaller batteries don't last as long and therefore would make less sense.   the X61s is still the smaller/lighter system overall, albeit with the slight sacrifice in processing power.

also, the chassis are different on the X61 and X61s.   you'll notice that the bottom of your X61 has provisions to match the profile of battery cylinders from the regular 4- and 8-cell batteries.   the X61s is completely flat in this area to match the available 4-cell prismatic battery.

Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, does the Enhanced battery stick out at the back of the X61 similar to the 8 cell but obviously not as much? Or is it just that the Enhanced is thicker with the cylindric form?

Wondering if anyone has any pictures of a X61 with the Enhanced 4-cell? I would like to see how much it sticks out in the back.

I looked around Google and only found pictures of X61 with 8-cell batteries attached.
