Hi, got the latest drivers from the IBM for my T42.
Installed them all, and now access connections has a red circle and line through the wireless indicator, and when I press FnF5 it says the radio is powered off, even though I'm connected to the net, clicking power on does nothing, and access connections is also asking me to enable the radio.
Any gen?
Access Connections and Wireless Power problem
Hello Andy,
I have just been through the same trouble myself with a T41 and an upgrade from 2100B to 2200BG card.
I thought to be smart and downloaded the latest drivers from IBM/Intel sites and installed them with the same results as you have now.
De-installing them and reinstalling them several times did not help.
Even reinstalling the 2100B card with the old drivers did not improve on the problem.
I deinstalled all wireless related items I could fine from the control panel. Removed manually the next files from System32:
- drivers\W70N51.sys
- W20MLRES.dll
- W20NCPA.dll
- W70N5MSG.dll
Then I installed the drivers which I found on my harddisk which were loaded as part of the original Recovery installation.
The Fn-F5 function immediately worked as expected. I replaced it with the 2200BG card and again installed the drivers found on my harddisk(Recovery copied drivers for 4 different Wireless card models on the harddisk). Now everything works as expected, happy me!
Please note that HotKey application is required for Fn-F5 to work.
