Recommend a mouse? (Pic)

Did a search - looks like Bluetooth mice are problematic. Prefer wireless, but not locked-in.

Anyone want to tout a particular mouse for my new T60? (Touchpad and the eraserhead thingie just slow me down soooo much I gotta have a mouse.)

Utilitarian, not gaming.

My favorite - Logitech MX Revolution. Smooth, feature rich, accurate and the wireless is flawless. It can be found new on EBay for $60 if you are patient. $100 retail.

VX Nano

Leave the dongle plugged into a USB port on your machine and never have to take it out. Lightweight, compact, and ambidextrous. (For us left handed people in a right handed world)

I use a Logitech laser mouse also, and find it superior to others I had tried. Now that I see the tiny USB adapter on the VX Nano, I'm almost willing to shell out the bucks and try it...the USB dongle is a pain to remove and insert all the time.

Well I have had great luck with Think Outside Stowaway Bluetooth Mouse it might not had all the bells and whistles but it does work for me.

i have the logitech V270 Optical Bluetooth mouse and it sucks. I cannot use it for CAD works (mostly Autocad, Revit) because it is sluggish and accuracy is very poor.

I am now using the Logitech G3 Laser Mouse which is wired.

Anyboby using the Logitech VX Nano and have no problems with it in CAD works. I am especially interested if it is precise even in small movements (which is very much needed when doing cad works).

I'm using both Microsoft and Logitech BT mice with various BT equipped Thinkpads and they are great!

What sort of "problems" were you anticipating?

Yeah, either Logitech MX Revolution (for home use) or the VX Nano (for mobile use). Do NOT get the VX revolution though. It is not a bad mouse, but you have to flip the switch under the mouse in order to change the mode of the wheel, stupid design. (VX revolution can be found as low as $20 though, if you don't care much about the gearless wheel, it can be a good alternative).

Bill - Frankly I don't recall specifics, other than possibly something about interference and/or interrupted service.

The enthusiasm for the VX Nano convinced me, Staples had one, and now I am happily mousing!

I use the Microsoft Lasermouse 8000. Love it. It is a bit pricey though.

All the praise for the VX Nano persuaded me to see if I could find a deal on one. Found one for about $34 (after mail in rebate) at Newegg this week which I thought was a pretty good deal so I went for it.

Seems very nice but it's going to take a little getting used to coming from a full size MS wireless optical mouse. I installed the latest version of the Set Point software (v. 4.24 released 11/30/07). Nice to see they had a version specifically for x64 Vista.

The buttons have a great feel and the laser precision is nice, however, so far one thing that I don't like is that vertical scrolling seems a little choppier than what I was using before, but perhaps I haven't got it set up optimally yet.

The VX nano is a travel mouse. If you want a full size Logitech wireless mouse the MX revolution is the best choice.

I knew it was a travel mouse, but it is kind of "mid-sized." I think I should be able to get used to the smaller size and it should be fine for home use once I do.

What is problematic about Bluetooth? I recently got a Logitech Bluetooth mouse and it works fine (at least it did once I upgraded my Norton AntiVirus to 2008 -- the 2007 version doesn't seem to like the Logitech mouse software)

The Nano is fantastic. I use that when traveling the the G7 at home when docked (both by Logitech).

The VX Revolution is I believe a bit bigger than the Nano. I was considering switching to the Nano a while back but according with I've read the VX should be better comfort wise (bigger) if it's going to be your only mouse (like in my case) so I kept the VX.

Looks like the dongle on the VX Revolution sticks out quite a bit further from a USB port than the one on the Nano, however. That tiny dongle on the Nano is really cool.

I use the MX revolution. I only use this mouse when docked, the dongle sits plugged into the usb hub so size doesn't matter here. For on the go I carry around a microsoft notebook presenter mouse 8000. It is bluetooth and I have had no problems with connectivity. Very good small portable bluetooth mouse with added benefit of media and powerpoint controls. I would say it is too small for everyday extensive use.
My girlfriend has a vx nano, and the size of usb dongle is very nice, making it almost as convenient as a bluetooth mouse. I would say it is a good portable mouse, but like the presenter mouse, probably too small for extensive use.

By the way, the MX revolution is alot bigger than both of these mice, and is the most comfortable mouse I've used for general use. The side scroll wheel is really cool as well. So for a primary mouse get the revolution no question, but mobile mouse look at both of these smaller mice.

Edit: I have the MX revolution not the VX revolution. The speed is just fine not laggy or slow on the MX revolution. I have never used a VX revolution.

I'v got VX revoluton too, and in comparsion with my 5 year old MX500 is very slow and laggy. My mother has some Benq wireless mice, and this is even worse.

Can anybody compare VX revolution and MX revolution in speed?

Do you have the Logitech "Setpoint" software installed? It allows the pointer and cursor speed to be adjusted, among other things.

The pointer speed on my VX Nano is so fast, I've got it set near the slowest setting in the Setpoint software.

Its not problem with speed, but lags. I have now conected both MX and VX mices, and MX with cable feels much more responsive.

The VX Nano rocks... I use it all the time now... and even plug it into the main machine at home on the front USB port and dont even bother with the mouse hooked to the KVM.

What has made great fun for me is going to a really long Excel doc calling my wife over and giving the wheel a real good spin and letting it fly. She usually runs away screaming because the site of everything zipping by like that makes her nauseous. Horrible... I know. But good for a quick chuckle.

super accurate laser, not too small, not too big, rechargeable batteries..runs off standard bluetooth ..no dongle needed...What more could you want?

MX Revolution definately.
It's a beast. The customizable buttons are awesome, battery life is good, ergonimoc, and the being able to click the track wheel in multiple directions and into frictionless mode is nothing but money

I use a VX Revolution on the road, and an MX Revolution at home (leave it permanently plugged into the mini-dock). I love 'em both, and see no lag at all in either.

As far as rechargeable batteries for a mouse go, I especially like the Sanyo "Eneloop" low self discharge (LSD) NiMh batteries that are available now. These last a long time in a mouse and are very easy to charge using a separate NiMh charger. Also, other manufacturers have LSD versions of NiMh batteries now that can be found at many stores, e.g., Walmart.

Anyway, these batteries are great for high drain as well as low drain devices like mice because they hold their charge for a long time, even in storage (85% after one year of storage). They can be charged with any standard NiMh battery charger but a "smart" charger that takes two or more hours to charge the batteries is best to get the most cycles out of the batteries.

I would never use regular disposable alkalines now that these LSD NiMh's are available. Given how long they last and how many times they can be recharged, they are much cheaper to use than alkalines and actually perform better.

The single AA battery in my VX Revolution lasts literally months with regular usage. Not really an inconvenience.
