Can I edit DMI table in Lenovo BIOS??

#1 Post by jiggysmb » Fri Dec 07, 2007 7:36 pm

I am new to the forum but have been an HP/IBM tech for 8 years now. Hopefully I will be able to assist with other areas but I have reached a dead end with this one.

My issue is that a university that I am working for wants to add their unique "asset tag" or <chassis sn> into the DMI table. I can accomplish this on all their PCs except IBM/Lenovo PCs & laptops using Intel Integrator Toolkit to generate a windows script that promts for the asset tag and adds to DMI. For some reason this method will not work on any of the IBMs unless we use winphlash to back up bios, edit advanced settings (add Chassis asset tag), reflash. This wouldnt be so bad if we were talking a few PCs but I am seeking a windows based app that will accomplish this quickly for a large scale project or a simple dos prompt that will eliminate having to totally reflash every PC.

American Megatrends offers a pre-boot suite of apps that includes their AMI DMI editor but will only sell it to PC manufacturers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
