Sierra Wireless mc8775 product id

Hi. If anyone has this model card, (not sure if its even available for the T60p, because I cannot find it on the spares page for my model) can you please post the product id for it. The manufactuer id should be 1199 (possibly with 0x prefixed) I dont know whether windows shows this info, but I imagine its in hardware manager if anywhere. I am suspecting it will be 6813, whereas the normal (read non ibm approved) cards are 6812. I have bought a usb modem that should have this card in it, and am just doing a bit of homework to see if I am going to have to try and work around the bios whitelist for it.

If you have an at&t WWAN option on T61/p then you have MC8775. In Windows XP the device ID can be found by:

Device Manager -> Network Adapter -> Sierra Wireless ??? Adapter -> right click -> Properties -> Details -> Hardware Ids.

My Sierra Wireless 1xEV-DO Network Adapter is:
VID: 1199
PID: 0220

However, when I searched for those numbers in BIOS v1.26 backup file, nothing came up.

Sugo, Is that the product id from your mc8775? Its completely different to what I was expecting. The two product id's I have seen are as above.

Sorry I was not clear: I do not have MC8775. Mine is MC5725 EV-DO. If you can find the VID/PID for MC5725 in the T61 BIOS, then finding the ones for MC8775 should be possible.

I tried searching for hex "99 11 20 02" without any luck.

Ah, OK, no problem. Yeah, I dont think hacking the bios is the easiest way to get around this, I am thinking the cards firmware would be easier. Get it to report the product id of the card that I am taking out, and the bios (hopefully) wont puke on it. Looking in the sierra.c file in the linux kernel, I dont think this would have any ill effects on the card at all, and I dont think it would even need to edit the kernel driver, as the mc8755 and mc8775 are both 3 port cards, and it looks to me that once they are identified, the cards firmware does the real work. (all speculation on my behalf, as I am certainly not a kernel hacker and only have a very basic understanding of c)

That's an interesting approach. Do you mean overwriting the original firmware with a new one? This is all I could find:

Got my 8775 today (actually a 875u, but its a mc8775 inside it) and the product id is 6812 as suspected. Strangely, the bios doesnt throw an error, and the led is even on during post, but after post the light goes out and the kernel doesnt see the card. Bugger!

so u connected the 8775 into the monipci or usb slot?
i think if u plug it into the mpci slot it should say error wwan device..
