Touchpad and trackpoint not working

#1 Post by liliggyracin » Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:08 am

User fired up their laptop this morning and the touchpad or the trackpoint wasnt working. However a usb mouse was able to run. I went to device manager and of course the Thinkpad driver for the trackpoint was splatted so I removed it restarted it comes back and finds an unknown device. No big deal or so I thought I go to Lenovo to get a trackpoint driver for the 7767-96U that I am using and am unable to find one. Anyone have a driver for this or can point me in the direction to one?

Thanks!!

You can get the trackpoint driver for your 7767-96U here.
For the other ThinkPad with the touchpad you can select the type on this page, you should be able to find the driver without too much difficulty.
FYI where trackpoint and touchpad are present, this is referred to as "UltraNav".

Thanks yeah I can usually find the Ultranav driver but for some reason when I found the drivers for mouse/trackpoint it wouldnt give me that option only an XP hotfix for it. I might have been in the wrong area as it is Monday morning. Besides that you have given me what I need and it is now up and running. Thanks for the help.

Your machine does not have touchpad. A trackoint consists of a red stick on the keyboard and three click buttons below the keyboard.

Andy, an UltraNav consists of a trackPoint and a touch pad and the term UltraNav is used to distinguish between models or machines with trackpoint only or UltraNav options.

Yes you are correct They dont have a touchpad and only a trackpoint. Although pointing it out really did no good. But thanks for making sure that the next person didnt make the same mistake and put an extra word in their thread.
