Upgrading the HD on my T60...

#1 Post by Billmanweh » Mon Dec 10, 2007 6:17 pm

I want to upgrade the 80GB 5400rpm HD on my T60. I'd like to at least double the storage space. Is the Hitachi 7K200 pretty much the way to go?

I'm using the Seagate 7200 rpm SATA drives in a couple of ThinkPads and have been very happy with the results. For me the Seagate drives were easier to get hold of than Hitachi drives and are quieter than the 100GB Hitachi 7200 rpm SATA drive I have in another ThinkPad.

YMMV

Cheers,

Yes -- inside a notebook, under "normal" operating conditions, there is nothing faster, quieter, or cooler.
Lab measurements yield small differences between different drives, differentials which exist even across different lots of the same drive. If you are interested in "by the numbers" results, here they are:
