T61 - Slow IE load times
T61 - Slow IE load times
Anyone else have slow IE load times with thier T61/T61p? My T43 with 1 GB of RAM loads IE faster than my T61p with 3GB. I have experienced this with all 3 T61's that i have.
Any ideas what is causing this? Anyone else experiencing this?

Rocking with a T400 for work, and a T60 at home
pble solved !
Hi guy,
Here is how I sorted out the problem:
Strangely enough, the power saving options for max performance is defined at saving power with regards to power options for wireless.
All you have to change is power options, advanced settings, wireless card settings --> energy mode change it from maximum power savings to max power.
the problem disappears and IE7 will rock

Re: pble solved !
Thanks so much for posting this! After trying many, many different things, making this change finally seems to have fixed the performance problems I was having over my wireless connection. Why they would have the default for a plugged in laptop be maximum power savings is beyond me.akim wrote:Hi guy,

IE7 loadup is slow...Power management solution?
I do not seem to have all the options mentioned here (I have a new X61s, XP):
"All you have to change is power options, advanced settings, wireless card settings --> energy mode change it from maximum power savings to max power. "
In Control Panel, i select Power Options. my power scheme is Max Performance. i have an Advanced tab but there's nothing there about wireless card settings.

Re: T61 - Slow IE load times
How do I solve this issue on XP (T61)? I have IE 6.0.

That URL does not work any more. Does anyone have a copy or an alternative URL? Or could someone summarize what the blog said.cwestwater wrote:I too had the same issue. Here is the fix:

I am very interested since my IE also starts up annoyingly slow and I had hoped to find a solution.

Also: Download Firefox 3 http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
IE is without doubt the crappiest browser available, no matter if it's IE 6,7 or 8, relieve yourself of the pain and get Firefox.
PS: ....seriously, no kidding..

Re: T61 - Slow IE load times
Although I prefer FF3 over IE7, I have to disagree with the above statement. FF3 too has its own both stability and performance problems. I guess it´s rather a matter of taste which browser is acceptable for its issues
To be honest, I actually found Opera to be slightly "faster" than FF3. But the "fastest" browsers I have ever used are IE7 x64 (unfortunately it sometimes has performance problems) and IE8 (beta) incl. x64, that in fact makes browsing much smoother (visually too) than anything else. No matter what, in the end everything the browsing speed comes down to is the bandwidth, own internet bandwidth and the bandwidth of the browsed sites (and the traffic of course).
