Hi
I own a fine working legacy i-series 1200-1161-96A notebook.
I have 2 things in mind
1)Adding a PCMCIA card which has USB2.0+Firewire capability.
But all cards are 32bit and I am not sure whether my notebook has a 16bit or a 32bit card slot
(From the IBM i series.pdf=PC Card Std slots:1 Type I, Type II, or Type III / CardBus 32-bit / PCMCIA 2.1 / Zoomed Video
PC Card Std slots) So I am not sure whether I should buy one.
Anyone has any idea about this?
2)Adding memory.I am reading some posts which discuss this. But are not complete in some senses.I read somewhere its max 192Mb(I have an onboard 64Mb+64Mb added) so I am hoping of removing the 64Mb and put a 256 Mb 144pin SODIMM-low density. Will high density work?
someone?:)
thanks in advance
What is my PC CARD spec?(iseries 1200)
CardBus is the same as 32-bit, and has been around since original Pentium and PCI days. The spec you quoted says "CardBus 32-bit" so the machine will work with the 32-bit cards you're looking at.
Your machine will not work with the very latest ExpressCards, but that standard is still pretty new.
Someone else will have to answer your memory question.

I used to have an i1200 and it had no problem handling the 256MB low-density SODIMM. It would not work with a high-density stick. I don't think mine had any onboard memory.
