Upgrade to Win/Exp 7 "No more internet"

#1 Post by Reo51St » Wed Dec 12, 2007 1:20 am

I am working on a T40, doing a recovery and updating to SP2 etc. When I upgraded to Windows Explorer 7 and rebooted I could not connect to the internet.

Repair does not fix the problem. It returned with “Unable to connect to preferred wireless network.”

The T40 is using Linksys W/L-G with SRX. This is the third time I have tried to upgrade. Every time after upgrading to Windows Explorer 7, I can not connect to the internet.

If I do not upgrade to Windows Explorer 7 there are no problems.

Anybody have an idea let me know.

Thanks all.

If you start Norton Antivirus, can you connect to their live update site?

Does the error message come through the web browser? If so, have you tried Firefox or another browser?

I have seen this happen many times. I never investigated as to what actually happens because most customers just want it to work again as fast as possible so I simply remove IE7 in add remove programs. It will warn you about all these programs that may not work correctly if you remove IE7. I have never seen any ill effects yet. After you remove IE7, IE6 will be back.
