Never ran hot T60p now is
I searched but couldn't find anything just like this so please forgive me if this has already been discussed.
My T60p 2623-DDU has been running cool as a cucumber almost 24/7 since June. Even during the summer when we usually don't use A/C this T60p still was quiet and cool.
A few days ago I noticed when it was very quiet that I thought I heard the fan running which like I said this quiet T60p didn't ever have the fan on. I am not running anything more than I ever run.
Today my NHC 2.0 (Pre Release - 06) says that the computer is running hot (don't recall the exact verbage) at 176 f or 76 C.
I don't ever remember reading about an sudden increase in temperature.
Any thoughts?
Brad

I've actually been having a remarkably similar problem....The machine, also a T60p, ran fine from May to about a week or two ago. Now I routinely get errors that the machine is running over 80C even while just idling at the desktop.
Would you mind sharing your voltage settings with me? Maybe I changed something inadvertently....?

I have a T60p 2007-8DG which is now in repair at Lenovo.
I could even make a complete backup anymore as the system ran so hot, it shut itself down during the process. Windows would no longer start until it cooled off for a long time...
I managed to get a full system backup (before sending it back) by putting the machine on frozen cooler blocks... go figure...
I think my problem is hardware related, but don't know until it returns again...

Please let us know what they did when you receive your T60 back.
I am at 44C now. I have the room temperature down to 57F like a meat locker. The strange thing is that even in summer when it was over 80F the bottom of my T60p did not feel hot. Today when the temperature is 57F it feels hot.
Still haven't tried any compresss air though. Maybe thats it?

Brad,
I had the same issue with my former T60p. I always had to set Vista to Balanced or Power Saver mode, or it would overheat. This one, which appears to have one positive surprise in store for me after another, has NEVER overheated once. In fact, it's always on High Performance and when I really go to town with tons of multi-tasking, it will get hot, but never to the extent where it will shut down, or to where my hands hurts from touching it.
Try blowing air through the fan slots, and if necessary, open it up (make sure to remember which screw goes in which hole) and you might find a little surprise inside, i.e. accumulated dirt/dust. Hope this helps.

Just got back my T60p and from the maintenance sheet I read they replaced the CPU fan.
I am now in the process of restoring my backup and will let you know if that worked out without overheating...
