DVI output on Port Replicator II

#1 Post by txflood » Tue Nov 16, 2004 10:00 pm

I have a T41p plugged into a Port Replicator II. Right now I have the VGA output driving my external P275 monitor at 1280 x 1024.

I tried hooking up a DVI to DVI cable between the monitor and the port replicator and I don't get a signal at the monitor using the normal Fn + F7 to switch video. I am running the ATI drivers offered on the IBM site and I thought from reading the FAQ that this was ok at the resolution that I am using and that I didn't need to use the other drivers mentioned on this forum unless I wanted higher resolution.

Is there anything else that has to be done to enable DVI passthrough?

Thanks,
Jim

Have others that originally tried using port replicator DVI with the IBM video drivers have any problems getting this to work at all (other than the screen resolution being restricted to 1280 x 1024)? I don't get anything out at all.

Does something have to be enabled to get DVI output to work?

Any ideas? Any suggestions on what to try?

I had no problems with a Port Rep II and my T40 with a DVI connections to a samsung monitor. Have you run the presentation director wizard and set up a totally new profile for DVI? Make sure this is also your default setting when the TP is docked. I did that and it worked off the bat.

My only gripe is with the presentation director which recognises when the TP is docked and switches to DVI out but will never default to normal settings when undocked. I always have to do that manually. Infuriating!

Thanks for the answer. I did not run presentation director before so I did that to create a new profile and then tried testing the DVI interface.

Unfortunately it still did not work, but now I know why - the port replicator supports DVI-D only and I am trying to attach it to a monitor that accepts DVI-A only. So until I get a new monitor this isn't going to work.
