A kind member of the forums has offered to sell some extra memory that he has to me; 1 x 1GB Kingston PC2-5300 (667MHz) RAM. I have a 2373K5U (T42 2373) with two 512MB memory chips for 1GB of total memory, and see that it uses PC1 memory. The dimensions are very slightly different for the PC2, but it appears to have the same number/configuration of pins.
The gentleman selling the chip is reasonably sure his will work in my machine, though of course the T42 won't be able to take advantage of the newer features of the PC2 memory. He suggested confirming here - any thoughts? Also, would the machine likely perform considerably faster going 1 -> 1.5GB and would the two different (in capacity and architecture both) chips nicely co-exist? Thanks!
Dilip
Can PC2-5300 667MHz memory work in a T42?
