Z61m noise level

#1 Post by ertily » Fri Dec 14, 2007 5:14 pm

My new Z61m 9452 makes a constant low level whirring noise. I am pretty sure it is the sound of the hard drive itself. Everything functions fine but this hum is annoying. It is not like being Gitmo'd but it is not desireable. It happens no matter what is plugged in, on AC or battery. Is this normal or can I do something to correct it? I am very tempted to return it while I still can. Weird thing is, I place my old T23 next to it and the T23 is completely silent. So much for newer being better.

I believe I have the same thing you're describing with my R60. I asked it here some time ago and it should be normal... though it disturbs me too :( . Particularly when at home in the evening/at night, at school I don't notice it, more surrounding noise I suppose.
