Can I Remove IE7 from new X61T

#1 Post by Alltweed » Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:07 pm

I prefer IE 6.0.

If I remove IE7, will it resort back to 6.0 automatically or do I loose the IE application?

Also, I noticed during the uninstall process of IE7 from control panel - you get a popup that says - are you sure you want to remove - these applications were added after IE7. Lots of major applications. Should I be concerned about that?

BTW: I already downloaded FireFox.

Normally it's no problem uninstalling IE7 on a machine. However it would suggest to stay with the current IE7 cause it fixes many security problems with earlier IE version.

The warning you are getting is normal and informs you of all applications that you installed after IE7 because if there are some apps depending on IE7 or it's technologies they might break.

Strange, I have seen many computers that had IE7 installed through automatic updates and as soon as IE7 was installed the internet was inaccessible. Nothing was installed after IE7 and when I went to remove it there were several programs in the warning. Removing IE7 did not impact those programs at all.
Seems like a scare tactic to keep you from uninstalling IE7.
