INSTALL internal SPEAKERS ?

#1 Post by JIMF25 » Fri Dec 14, 2007 11:14 pm

How do I install the speakers on my T61? For some reason, the speakers are not active.

I am pretty confused, as I believe this computer should have internal speakers...why/how could they not be active.

thanks in advance for your help.

What exactly happens when you push the volume control buttons?

Cheers,

Your T61 does indeed have built-in speakers. There are actually TWO volume controls that work in tandem on your Thinkpad:

1. The volume controls at the top/left of your keyboard (round silver buttons)
2. The Windows volume control. Click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of your desktop to adjust this volume. If the speaker icon isn't visible, instructions to make it visible can be found here.

Also make sure you've the drivers installed for the device.

I installed the driver. still nothing.

when I go into "control panel"...."sounds and audio devices".....it says "no audio device"

the silver buttons don't do anything.

it won't let me put the volume icon in the system tray as it says "no audio device" and everything is grayed out.

lol...that is quite funny
you do have speakers. in fact, you also have volume controllers

Perhaps you haven't installed a sound driver yet?

Please provide us with a few more details...

What operating system are you using? Did you rebuild the OS from scratch, or are you using a factory image? Have you speakers EVER worked?

If it's a new work computer then possibility is your Admin might have disabled Audio from the BIOS.
