Battery gauge on T42p in Vista

#1 Post by mytp » Sat Dec 15, 2007 6:18 am

Has anyone with a T42p managed to get the ThinkPad battery gauge working in Vista? I would like to be able to set the begin-charging and end-charging percentages, and that can't be done with the Vista power management alone (AFAIK).

I've installed the "Power Management Support" package http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4GXPEG but that doesn't do it. The other packages that might be appropriate, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-44226 ("Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features") and http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZFRG3 ("ThinkPad Configuration for Windows") are each for XP, not Vista. I've searched the forum and Web, but haven't found a solution.

Install ThinkVantage Power Manager, a user reported it works fine with thinkpad T42p under Windows Vista even though it's not supported:

Beeping before sleeping option in Vista?.

Power Manager for Windows Vista - ThinkPad.

Thanks!

I installed the package, and it seems to be working.
