Does anyone know if IBM ever sold a version of the T42 that came with a keyboard with Thai and English characters?
If they did I'd assume it was for local (Thailand) consumption only.
Does anyone know if I can get my hands on one?
I have been using the Thai character "stickers" that are overlays on the keyboard. Those are peeling, and I am about to apply my third set.
Thai/English Keyboard for T42
I am not quite sure if I have understood your question correctly, and I also don't know which T42 you have (14.1" or 15"?), but in any case according to Keyboard service parts - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p you will find Thailand keyboards for both 14.1" and 15" T42's (see at bottom of list). I have no idea however if these are "Thai-only" with no English characters - try find a reseller in Thailand and ask!
Alternatively, try find a ThinkPad-user in Thailand and ask...
OK, very easy to suggest, but probably very difficult to follow these brainy suggestions...
Hey, better idea: Call Lenovo in Thailand and ask them directly --> Contact information, Lenovo Thailand. End of today's good suggestions - let me know if you need more!

PS: Last "good suggestion" (simply couldn't resist it!): If you Google "ThinkPad+Thailand" many hits will (of course) come up. Why not just mail and ask some of the companies and/or ThinkPad users in Thailand?
Best regards,
Johan

Thanks for the great suggestions.
I have a 14.1" T42, and based on the IBM FRU list, I need "08K5072" which should be the Made in Thailand (NMB) Thai Keyboard.
I'll shoot an email off to IBM Thailand (direct@th.ibm.com). And I'll follow up at a retailer next time I'm in Thailand.

You're very welcome. This just to say that I just saw another thread about foreign keyboards which might interest you; have a look in the thread WTB... T4X Japanese/American Keyboard and in particular the link pointed to by ZAGNUT in his post of Thu Jan 03, 2008 8:29 pm.
Hey, you could even get your own, personally designed Thai-keyboard in this way - truly, absolutely, completely cool!!
Best regards,
Johan
